The Left is like a pack of sharks, which gets more frenzied and aggressive whenever their prey lets some blood slip into the water. An already-insane ideological bent can turn into an even-more insane, and yet somehow effective, public relations onslaught when their prey backpedals, apologizes, explains, and otherwise does what normal, decent people do to clear up misunderstandings among friends.
The radical, pagan group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has chosen to launch a full-frontal attack on an erstwhile friendly feature film based on nothing more than a few seconds of manipulated video showing a dog…being tortured? Being made into a coat?
No. A dog not wanting to swim.
The film, A Dog’s Purpose, starring Dennis Quaid, was due to premiere Jan. 21, but creators cancelled the event due to PETA’s call for a boycott of the movie, which ironically is centered around the loving relationships between people and dogs. This is somewhat akin to if the NAACP had called for a boycott over Glory, the 1990s movie which celebrated an all-black unit of Union soldiers, starring Denzel Washington, Morgan Freeman, and Matthew Broderick. The whole point of A Dog’s Purpose is positive and pro-animals.
This is just another episode evidencing the Left’s disdain for the well-being of its purported protected classes. The Left doesn’t want animals like those used in A Dog’s Purpose to be well off. The Left wants power, period. In the case of so-called animal rights, the Left wants to impoverish mankind by divorcing it from the use of animal labor, submissive animal companionship (i.e., having pets who do not possess civil rights), and animal-derived products such as milk, meat, and fur. The Left manipulates well-intentioned, decent people through the use of false accusations, manufactured guilt, undeserved shame, and the confused, gracious victim’s desire for reconciliation and righteousness. While it is ironic that Marxist, Jewish Hollywood is the target of the Left’s zeal — and it is also their target when it comes to the #OscarsSoWhite campaign — it is always painful to see the Left win any victory, even if over soldiers within their own ranks.
A biblical view of animals puts them under the authority of men governed by God and His Law. God’s Law forbids the misuse of animals, the earth, and creation in general. However, it also explicitly allows for their use as mentioned above. When men and animals cooperate in the harmony God outlined for the respective species, both men and animals gain the maximum benefit from the relationship. Moreover, unlike the kill-em-all approach of some capitalists or the hug-every-tree approach of environmentalists, the biblical approach to dominion over animals is sustainable and realistic.
