Mr. Obama delivered the 2011 State of the Union Address on Tuesday evening. I’ve put together my thoughts on the speech for those of you who didn’t suffer through it with me and for those who are interested in hearing my take on it.
A couple of points before we get started: first, Barack Obama is not eligible for the position of U.S. President, and he will thus be given his proper title of “Mr.” throughout this article. Secondly, as was so aptly identified by one of my friends, the U.S. government has no money of its own. All its money is either stolen from us directly through unconstitutional taxation or borrowed from other sources, and then money is stolen from us to pay the interest of this debt. Thus, whenever Mr. Obama speaks of “investing” in such and such, what he is really saying is, “I want to steal your money, waste a large amount of it through government bureaucracy and inefficiencies, and then use the rest to fund the unconstitutional project” of such and such. And last of all, to aid in the reading of this piece, I have highlighted all direct quotes from Mr. Obama’s speech in red (you can read the entire transcript here); the color red suits Comrade Obama quite nicely.
One of the first points Mr. Obama made was that “we are part of the American family” and that, even though every race can be found in America, “we are still bound together as one people . . . we share common hopes and a common creed.” This “is what sets us apart as a nation.” I completely agree with Mr. Obama that nations are families, but they are families of blood and lineage, not hopes and creeds. The Greek word for nation is Ethnos, which is from where we get our word “ethnicity.” A nation is an ethnicity which, in turn, is an extended family. This ludicrous idea that you can fashion a “nation” out of a jumble of completely unrelated people with nothing in common except for “hopes” and “creeds” does not set us apart as a nation. It has been tried many times before throughout history in the Roman Empire, the Persian Empire, the British Empire, Yugoslavia, the USSR, and others, and it always ends in the complete, inevitable, and often bloody destruction of that political entity.
Later in his speech, Mr. Obama returned to this point in his declaration that “we are the first nation to be founded for the sake of an idea — the idea that each of us deserves the chance to shape our own destiny.” This is of course a bald-faced lie. The preamble to the U.S. Constitution reads, “We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.” Founded to secure the life, liberty, and property of European Christians — or founded for the “dream that says this is a country where anything’s possible. No matter who you are. No matter where you come from“: which one sounds like the true purpose of the Founding Fathers, and which one sounds like the motto of Disneyland?
Mr. Obama talked a lot about the economy. He claimed that “the stock market has come roaring back. Corporate profits are up. The economy is growing again.” Sure, the stock market is higher than it’s been, but it’s fueled by inflation and the devaluing of the dollar, not by real growth. Of course corporate profits are up, as the Feds stole trillions upon trillions of dollars from the American people and handed it to them on a silver platter. The economy might be slowly growing again, but not nearly as fast as the national debt is growing. But Mr. Obama goes on to say that economic progress isn’t measured “by these yardsticks alone.” Economic progress is also, and even more importantly, measured by jobs and quality of life. I completely agree; so what do these stats look like? Mr. Obama claimed success in all these categories, and yet when you look at the “official” unemployment rate of almost 10% while the real unemployment rate is 23%, at real wages compared to commodity prices, and at other economic indicators, this just doesn’t hold water. He claims “one million private sector jobs [were] created last year,” but very many of the new jobs (over a million over the past two years) that were created went to non-Americans here on H-1B visas and illegal immigrants.
Mr. Obama claimed “that [the] world has changed” and “the rules have changed.” He said the days where “your competition was pretty much limited to your neighbors” when it came to the job market are over. He said the days where, “if you worked hard, chances are you’d have a job for life, with a decent paycheck, good benefits, and the occasional promotion” are over. And he is correct. And he is correct because the federal government deliberately gutted the entire American industrial and manufacturing base by, on the one hand, opening up America to global competition through “free trade” agreements like NAFTA and CAFTA with countries who pay their workers dollars a day and then, on the other, crippling American industry through oppressive and unconstitutional regulations. It is therefore outrageous that, later in his speech, Mr. Obama specifically promotes even more of these economically suicidal “free trade” agreements with South Korea, Columbia, and Panama (among others). Mr. Obama then adds insult to injury by proposing as a solution to this problem that the U.S. government “invest” (read: steal your money, waste it, and spend it unconstitutionally) in innovation. This is analogous to a bully stealing your lunch money, pretending to be sorry about it, and then stealing your bus money too to pay for “investing” in ways to avoid for you being bullied.
Mr. Obama discusses how utterly the public education system has failed, but, true to his Marxist ideology, his solution to the problem is not ending the unconstitutional monstrosity, but “investing” (read: stealing your money, wasting it, and spending it unconstitutionally) even more money into it. Mr. Obama says that the responsibility of education begins not in the classroom, “but in our homes and communities.” I agree, and that’s where is should stay — in the home, not in those God-hating public indoctrination centers.
Mr. Obama talked about higher education, saying that “higher education must be within reach of every American.” You want to know one of the main reasons why so many jobs now require a college degree? It’s because high school standards have been so dumbed down that a high school degree is now worthless. Mr. Obama wants the same thing to happen to the college degree as well. “America will once again have the highest proportion of college graduates in the world.” Sure we will, and most of them won’t know a thing or be qualified to do anything. And once the college bachelor’s degree is worthless, then we’ll start hearing these same speeches about the college masters degree — “every American should have one.” If Mr. Obama really wants the “highest proportion of college graduates in the world” as a goal in and of itself without the high standards needed to make a college degree worth something, why doesn’t he just award everyone in America a college degree by Executive Order? It amounts to the same thing as what will happen with the mass lowering of standards needed to get a college degree for every idiot in America, every Spanish-speaking immigrant, and every low-IQ black out of the ghetto. Oh, and did I mention that you’ll be footing the bill for all this? Yeah, “investing.”
Mr. Obama then went on to promote amnesty for all 20+ million illegal immigrants in America by sobbing about those poor people living “every day with the threat of deportation.” But Mr. Obama still wants to “protect our borders, enforce our laws.” Yeah, right. The Obama Administration’s treatment of Arizona is more than enough to show that this is complete bullcrap. Every illegal immigrant is a future Democrat who will loyally vote for more welfare, more Marxism, and the destruction of America, and Mr. Obama knows it and loves it. The border will remain unsecured and the third-world floodgates will be wide open unless the individual states, like Arizona, do something about it.
Mr. Obama talked about the poor shape that the American infrastructure system is in, and he is completely correct; the American infrastructure system is falling apart (read more about it here). Perhaps we would have money to maintain our roads and bridges if the Obama administration started eliminating the unconstitutional welfare system instead of adding things like Obamacare to it. But of course, Mr. Obama’s solution to this problem isn’t cuts to spending, it’s “investing” (read: stealing your money, wasting it, and spending it unconstitutionally) in infrastructure. Mr. Obama did propose to “freeze annual domestic spending for the next five years,” but this is locking the stable after the horses have been stolen when one realizes that he increased overall spending by 24% over the course of 2009 and 2010 and this spending freeze would freeze things at those increased levels.
Mr. Obama spoke about how the “the Iraq War is coming to an end.” I’ll believe it when I see it. Oh sure, we may “declare” the Iraq War over at some point, but how many bases will we maintain there? How many thousands of soldiers will remain garrisoned there? How much money will we continue to pump into that country to bribe the factions not to start killing each other again? America will never be free of Iraq or its other imperial enterprises while a Democrat or NeoCon is in charge. Mr. Obama, the great “anti-war” leader, then went on to talk up the continuing unconstitutional war in Afghanistan.
Mr. Obama declared that “the United States of America . . . supports the democratic aspirations of all people.” Oh really? So if South Carolina, Texas, Montana, or Idaho voted to secede, they would be allowed to do so? Yeah, I didn’t think so.
Mr. Obama described how weak and divided the U.S. military is by telling us how every race, every religion, and even every sexual perversion are represented. The Roman Empire brought a bunch Germans into their military. I wonder how that diversity turned out for them? Having a “diverse” military is trading strength for weakness and is just asking for disaster.
Mr. Obama proudly stated that “we all believe in the rights enshrined in our Constitution.” I am sure Mr. Obama does believe in the rights in the Constitution, but only in the sense that I believe in cockroaches. When found, they must be destroyed. Case in point: when discussing America’s infrastructure and promoting the “investing” (read: stealing your money, wasting it, and spending it unconstitutionally) in high-speed rail, Mr. Obama stated that “for some trips, it will be faster than flying — without the pat-down” as a joke with a smile on his face (and of course all the establishment politicians thought it was just hilarious). The TSA is part of the executive branch; its leadership and policies are under Mr. Obama’s direct control. If Mr. Obama wanted to stop the sexual assaults, radiation scanners, and gross violation of our fourth amendment rights, he could do so, but instead he makes a mockery of it.
There are many other things I could discuss, but I will end on this. Mr. Obama wants a government that is “open and competent,” but what about a government that is constitutional? Americans first; America first: obey the Constitution.
