150th Anniversary of Texas Secession

Yesterday marked the 150th anniversary of the day a Texas State Convention voted 166-8 in favor of adopting the Ordinance of Secession. This became official on February 23rd after a majority of the state’s voters approved the ordinance. I have a special fondness for Texas not only since I was born here and now live here, but also because two of my kin died at the Alamo (the two Ballentines on this list) and others fought in Texas Confederate regiments. Since this secession was legal and was never repealed, Texas is still a de jure part of the CSA, as are the other Southern states. As the tyranny of the U.S. government grows ever greater, it is far past time that the South reasserted its de jure independence, and it would be no surprise if the Rocky Mountain, Great Plains, and even some of the Great Lakes states joined us in a modern-day round of the spirit of ’76 and ’61.
