A straw man often thrown at Christians who take the historical, biblical view of homosexuality is that we want a sex police force peeping into people’s windows and cameras set up in their bedrooms. There may be someone somewhere out there who supports this, but I have never met him, and that is certainly not the biblical model. The biblical model requires two or more witnesses for a conviction (Deuteronomy 19:15). And as a side note, Deuteronomy 19:16-18 protects people from malicious accusations, fishing expeditions, and witch hunts by prescribing punishment for those who testify falsely. This multiple-witness requirement may seem odd (sin is sin, right?) but the law was less about catching people and more about keeping sexual perversion out of the public square. Two consenting adults engaging in private acts were very unlikely to have to deal with Leviticus 18:22 or Leviticus 20:13. They are no less sexual degenerates engaging in profound sin and on the path to eternal judgment (1 Cor. 6:9), but their sin is fairly contained. This of course is the main drive of biblical law: to keep sin out of the public square and from infecting the society at large without creating an unbiblical police state. It’s very hard for homosexuals to propagandize their sinful lifestyle when telling two or more people that they are a homosexual, that it is normal, and that it should be celebrated risks a sexual perversion conviction.
In countries which have rejected biblical law in favor of “gender equality” and “equal rights,” the public flaunting of sexual immorality has become commonplace. One of the few bright spots about communism in Eastern Europe is that those countries avoided having to go through the neo-Marxist revolutions which the West endured in the 1960s. So when communism collapsed, the majority of people in these countries retained their moral compass and common sense and returned to the Church in droves. The religion of equality had to be imposed top-down by the European Union, enticing poor ex-communist countries with the promises of economic prosperity in exchange for instituting the policies of the anti-Christian European Court of Human Rights. One of the countries willing to make this deal with the devil was the Caucasian country of Georgia. Despite this fact, when several dozen pro-homosexual activists attempted to hold a “gay pride” parade in the capital city of Tbilisi on Friday, thousands of nationalists and Orthodox Christians showed up to counter-protest and shut down the march. Orthodox priests were among the counter-protesters and carried stinging nettles, which they threatened to use on the homosexuals. Can you imagine one of our girly-man pastors in the West having the backbone to do that? Despite the gasps of horror from the mainstream media, being whipped by nettles is getting off light, since flagrant homosexuality carries the biblical death penalty. Notice the slant in this article on a popular UK news website covering the event; pictures are captioned with “ignorant,” “fear,” “homophobic,” “love is love,” “Medieval attitude,” and the like. Let us hope that the doomed EUSSR has its inevitable collapse before it can drag Eastern Europe’s Christian values down with it.
