South Africa was largely unsettled when Europeans arrived there and only European farming techniques, medical knowledge, and infrastructure enabled large African populations to grow outside of pockets of high rainfall in the east and north. Starting in 1957, an integral part of Apartheid was Separate Development where historically black settled areas were designated as “black homelands.” White tax dollars were used to build houses, schools, hospitals, universities, and other infrastructure in black homelands and general financial and educational support was given with the goal of their eventual full independence like Lesotho and Swaziland. Within these black homelands, blacks had full voting rights, selected their own leaders, and governed their own internal affairs. Before the collapse of Apartheid, black literacy rates in these black homelands was the highest on the entire African continent. In fact, four of the ten black homelands, Bophuthatswana, Ciskei, Transkei, and Venda, had been granted complete independence and officially recognized by South Africa before the homeland system was ended in 1994. It was the rest of the world, “outraged” by the “racial intolerance” of South Africa, which refused to recognize them as separate countries. And far from the Leftist propaganda, these black homelands included both areas of high rainfall and rich mineral deposits. The platinum mines in Bophuthatswana alone accounted for two-thirds of all platinum produced by South Africa.1
The video below is Hendrik Verwoerd, the father of Separate Development, speaking about race relations in South Africa. Someone needs to tell Anthony Bradley that this is what true Christian racial reciprocity looks like. Indeed, this even goes beyond strict reciprocity to Christian charity. The fact that our Christian European forefathers recognized that racial differences are real and meaningful, believed in ethno-nationalism, and acted upon those beliefs doesn’t make them less Christian or bad Christians; it makes them better Christians than the majority of the modern church. The supporting of mass third world immigration, promoting of diversity and multiculturalism, and embracing of white guilt and alienism is setting the West up for decades, if not generations, of racial strife and bloodshed.
It must also be pointed out, yet again, that when white Boers try to set up their own white homelands in South Africa without government aid such as in Orania after the end of Apartheid, they get called all sorts of mean names and targeted for government repression.
The tendency in Africa for nations to become independent, and at the same time to do justice to all, means not only being just to the black man of Africa, but also to be just to the White man of Africa.
We call ourselves Europeans. But actually, we represent the White men of Africa. They are the people, not only in the Union, but throughout major portions of Africa, who brought civilization here who made the present developments of Black Nationalism possible, by bringing them education, by showing them this way of life. By bringing in industry and development. By bringing in the ideals which Western civilization developed itself.
When the White man came to Africa, perhaps to trade in some cases, perhaps to bring the gospel, has remained to stay. And particularly we, in this Southern-most portion of Africa, have such a stake here that this is our only motherland. We have nowhere else to go. We settled a country bare. And the Bantu came in this country and settled certain portions for themselves. And it is in lying with the thinking of Africa to grant those fullest rights which we also with you admit all people should have, we believe in providing those rights for those people to the fullest degree in that part of Southern Africa which their forefathers found for themselves and settled in.
But similarly, we believe in balance. We believe in allowing exactly those same full opportunities to remain within the grasp of the White man who has made all this possible.-Hendrik Verwoerd
