No matter where one stands with respect to the man, his candidacy, and his attainment of the Oval Office, Donald Trump’s election persists in an aura of surrealism. This surrealism is, of course, borne out of the seeming improbability of it all: in the face of all punditry, polling, and actuarials, and in spite of the arrayed forces of the DNC, the MSM, the banks, hedge funds, international corporations, illegal aliens, his very own party, and massive Democrat voter fraud, Trump was carried into office on a provident wind.
This surreality is shaped by the deep sense of irony in these happenings. Taken individually, each little ironic embellishment might be regarded whimsically, but altogether this is a veritable tsunami of irony.
And in the wake of the election, leftist hordes in California, protesting the election of an “intolerant” “racist” “isolationist,” have resolved to secede from the union. Why? Because, as they tell it, they cannot tolerate political union with White people. *Guffaw, chortle, snort*
Moreover, while anti-gun advocates all, these people are calling for armed revolt against Second Amendment supporters and any state which upholds the right of bearing arms! These total government devotees who uniformly deny any right of secession for the Southern states, now want to secede from political union with the only people who’ve supported the right of secession! The level of cognitive dissonance, total dearth of self-examination, and distilled hypocrisy in these people beggars the imagination. With apologies to Jefferson Airplane, Yes, Alice, “the White Knight is talking backwards and the Red Queen’s ‘off with her head.'”
Moreover, these cumulative hypocrisies engendered on the Petri dish of cultural Marxism leave us in a positively gobsmacked state of irony. So much so that many conclude with Rev. McAtee,
Life today can only be understood through the prism of irony.
~Bret L. McAtee, FB commentary on the post-election Calexit effort
I wish we could attribute all this to California’s drug market being flooded with discount Mexican-made brown acid, but there’s more to it than that. In essence, all that strikes us as so ironic in their hypocrisy is the overt rebellion against reality and coherence itself. Which is to say that hypocrisy is a form of madness. And madness being at odds with life, and therefore inherently thanatotic, means that the hordes consumed with this madness are so because “All who hate Me love death” (Prov. 8:36). Thus liberalism ends in all manner of misanthropy and Malthusianism.
Which they, of course, call ‘Love’.
