On Feb 6, 1935 (76 years ago today), the first Monopoly board game went on sale. Since then, millions of copies of numerous versions in many languages have been sold, making Monopoly the highest-selling and most-played board game of all time. Not only can board games be used to help instill good sportsmanship and teach critical thinking skills, but they also are a fun way to spend some family time. In an age dominated by cell phones and television, why not use this opportunity to dust off the old Monopoly box or some other board game and get the family together for an old-fashioned game? You might just enjoy it so much that you’ll want to make it a weekly occurrence.
