May 5th was the Orthodox Christian Easter this year. In Greece, as in America, many take the Easter weekend as an opportunity not only to celebrate Christ’s resurrection, but to visit friends and family. Unfortunately for Greeks, traveling for these visits is not easy. Instead of fixing the country’s older, pothole-ridden freeway system, the corrupt and debt-stricken Greek government has relied on toll roads to fill in the infrastructure gap. These toll roads are “privately” owned and operated; in other words, big business gets taxpayer money to build them and then gets to charge the taxpayers to use them. This is similar to how many sports stadiums in America get built and operated. The tolls on these roads have gotten more and more exorbitant as the country’s fiscal crisis has worsened, such that the combination of toll prices and European gas prices prohibit many Greeks from traveling. I found references to toll roads costing 25 euros (32 dollars) each way (€50/$64 roundtrip).1 In protest, the Golden Dawn seized control of over a dozen toll booths and ferries across Greece and let Easter travelers use them free of charge. Lest you feel any sympathy for the owners of the toll roads, as the Golden Dawn’s English website pointed out, the owners are far from being small, enterprising entrepreneurs. They are a mega-corporation that, among other things, also owns two of the country’s major newspapers which lead the anti-nationalist charge and promote the destruction of the Greek nation. A photo gallery of the event can be found here and a video seen below. You can hear the thankfulness of the Greek people to the Golden Dawn in the non-stop honking.
The pro-Greek work of the Golden Dawn has not gone unhindered, however. Two days previously, on May 2, the corrupt Greek government unleashed the police on the Golden Dawn when they attempted another ethnic Greek-only food handout in Syntagma Square in central Athens. A fight broke out between the Golden Dawn members and the riot police. The riot police successfully prevented the Golden Dawn from entering the square, but couldn’t force them to leave. The Golden Dawn decided to simply start the food handouts where they were, and the police tried to block access to the food truck and arrested the truck driver but were unable to prevent the handouts from continuing. They then tried the tactic of locating and arresting the Golden Dawn truck drivers in other parts of the city before they could reach the square. Golden Dawn eventually secured their release and then moved the food handout to in front of their party’s central offices. The Golden Dawn report can be found here. Below is a rough English translation of a statement which Golden Dawn MP Ilias Kasidiaris gave to the press after the event:
Those were some sad incidents, we saw policemen attacking the poor and the elderly that were hungry, that is their crime. They stopped Golden Dawn’s Solidarity action from taking place. Despite the chemicals and despite the attacks of the RCU officers we remained on Syntagma, our teams remained on Syntagma , and what scheme did the anti-Greek Police of the Memorandum state use? They arrested the truck drivers in various places around Athens. They pulled them out the trucks and took their keys. So we were forced to travel here (Central Offices) to complete this action, and as you can see, thousands Greek compatriots got a helping hand that they desperately needed.
We had announced this event to the Police, we told them where it would take place and we remind you that the Greek Constitution gives the Greeks the right to gather wherever they want. No state can deprive us of this right. They will face lawsuits from every direction because of these incidents we faced today on Syntagma Square.
Mr. Kaminis (the mayor of Athens) is nothing. This was organized by people higher up on the command chain, Mr. Dendias (Civilian Protection Minister) and Mr. Samaras are behind this.
The action you see here costs tens of thousands of euros. No other party, inside or outside the Parliament, and no municipality has organized an event such as this to aid the Greek People that are being tortured by the Memorandums and their policies. Only Golden Dawn organizes this kind of events, and because we are the only party, the whole corrupt authority fights us. We remind you that these last days, we face the insults of every single party within the Parliament.
For now, 10 trucks have passed from here, mostly loaded with meat since (due to the high prices this season) many compatriots didn’t have the opportunity to get some for the holidays. Golden Dawn fills this void, and supplies them with additional traditional Easter foods.
The fight between Golden Dawn and the police:

The food handout the police tried to prevent:
Imagine being one of those policemen when you got home that day:
“So honey, what did you do at work today?”
“Oh, I just bravely tried to prevent poor starving people from getting fed, the usual.”
But at least the police, in a country with over 27% overall unemployment and 60% youth unemployment, can’t really be faulted for wanting to keep their jobs.23 The true criminals are the treasonous, well-fed politicians who ordered the police to stop the food handout in the first place.
Meanwhile in America, while the nationalists were putting boots on the ground in Greece in the face of fierce opposition, the craven eunuchs in Conservative, Inc. published a mild anti-amnesty document and then fired its author when the Left got mad.
