A couple years ago, I started (and will eventually complete) a series on the political tract Vindiciae Contra Tyrannos (A Defense of Liberty Against Tyrants) which seeks to Biblically answer four questions concerning the civil magistrate (government). The last question asks “Whether neighbor princes may, or are bound by law to aid the subjects of other princes“. I’ll give you a spoiler, the answer is yes; providing some very strict criterion are met. For example, the oppression must be grievous, the chances of defeating the tyrant must be reasonable, the aid must be done with no objective of personal gain, and we are most obligated to aid those closest to us in terms of blood, religion, and geography. In other words, a ruler being a “bad guy” is nowhere near enough justification. This fits very well with the Christian Just War Theory. This should be the basis of a Christian foreign policy; trade, tourism, and non-interventionism until foreign intervention becomes necessary under the above framework, at which point we side with the Christians and/or our racial brothers. For anyone who understands the Biblical idea of expanding concentric areas of responsibility, this is common sense.
That is the Christian framework for foreign policy. It should come as no surprise then that the solidly anti-Christian US government, who itself is sliding further and further into tyranny, would do the opposite. For the past several decades, and arguably for more than a century, the US has consistently intervened in situations which do not meet the Just War standards. On top of this, they have done so when no Christians or Europeans where involved, when the conflict was far removed geographically, and have often sided with the non-Christians. To make this doubly heinous, the US has done this while ignoring situations which are far closer to meeting the Just War standards such as South Africa today, Hungary in 1956, or Cuba in 1961. US intervention in Kosovo handed historical European Christian land to Muslim fundamentalists, in Iraq it has destroyed the Assyrian church, and brought Jihadists to power in Libya and Egypt. And now the war drums are beating to fight a war against Syrian Christians to aid the Islamic Jihad.
As I said before, it is no surprise that the US Government is picking the wrong side, yet again. The real surprise is how fanatically gung-ho American “Christianity” is to support, and even lobby for, the US’s anti-Christian wars.
