Rep. Keith Ellison, Democrat from Minneapolis, is asserting that he should lead the Democratic National Committee into the Trump era. The socialist black convert to Islam has represented his district since 2006 and was famously sworn into the U.S. House of Representatives with a Qur’an that belonged to Thomas Jefferson.
If any elected official more sharply represents the difference between traditional, white, Christian Middle America and the new Democratic coalition than Keith Ellison — I don’t know who does.
Ellison is Barack Obama without the allegations of being a secret Muslim. Ellison wears his Islamic faith on his sleeve. Is there anything more infuriating to the white electorate than the prospect of being governed by foreigners (i.e., non-whites) under the banner of a foreign ideology (Islam or communism)?
Trump recently got elected to the White House thanks to the votes of anti-socialist, anti-Black Lives Matter, anti-globalist, anti-Syrian refugee white people. Elizabeth Warren comes to mind, but essentially the Democratic Party has no serious contenders at present to challenge Trump in the 2020 presidential cycle. Combine those two facts with the possibility of Ellison’s elevation to the status of head of the Democratic Party machinery, and you’ve got yourself a Democratic Party overtly, eagerly lurching to the left while the American electorate wants to go to the right.
Even if the Republican Party does not turn explicitly pro-white anytime soon, the mere fact that the “progressive” (aka communist) wing of the Democratic Party is going to dominate that party, means that the gap between Middle America and the coastal elites is going to widen, and deepen.
Unity, anyone?
