“We have replaced a shipwrecked liberal democracy with a 21st-century Christian democracy, which guarantees people’s freedom, security” said Viktor Orban, the recently re-elected Hungarian prime minister, during his acceptance speech last week.
Orban also claimed,
[W]e are working on building an old-school Christian democracy, rooted in European traditions. . . . [W]e believe in the importance of the nation, and in Hungary we do not want to yield ground to any supranational business or political empire.
Christian ethno-nationalism has become mainstream in the Hungarian political landscape. May Hungary be blessed so that the rest of the West follow suit.
